I have worked in Leadership development for around 20 years following a career in senior management and engineering.
I have worked across many sectors, and have been involved in recruitment and assessment, psychometric profiling and feedback, team and individual coaching, management and leadership training.
During the Covid pandemic I have reflected a lot about how leadership development is delivered.
That there is too much of a focus on the delivery of lots of content, often in a class room setting. Much of the content is interesting but not always relevant to individual managers. It also often requires time away from the office/job so in terms of effectiveness for the one or two "a-ha" moments the prevailing model does not justify the time away. Also a lot of the associated costs are taken up by venue costs rather than in the learning provision.
